Like a karate class or soccer team, you are committing to a weekly session, and tuition is due regardless of any absences. There are no deductions in tuition for illnesses, holidays, or special vacations.
If I must miss a class, it will be made up or credited.
If you are sick, you can choose to either skip that week or if you let me know ahead of time, I can create a lesson plan that focuses more on Ear Training, Theory, and History. That way we can give your voice a break.
If a student decides to discontinue lessons, a month’s notice or a month’s tuition is required.
Resume
I grew up in a musical family, with my father teaching all the kids barbershop quartet songs and three-part harmonies. As a student at San Rafael High School in California, I sang with the Advanced Jazz Choir and played flute with the Advanced Jazz Band, winning several awards at the Folsom and Santa Cruz Jazz Festivals. I was the lead in high school musicals, and tutored my peers in voice and flute.
Wanting to be surrounded by a vibrant art scene, I ventured off to Sarah Lawrence College in New York, and spent weekends taking in all that Manhattan had to offer. There I formed Big Tree, a nationally touring indie pop band based first out of Brooklyn, then the Bay Area. I graduated from Sarah Lawrence College with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Vocal Performance. During my junior year, I had the opportunity to take Opera and Canto Lyrico classes at the world-renowned Instituto Superior de Artes abroad in Cuba. I have studied with incredible masterminds Marcia Miget, Thomas Young, Hilda Harris, and Glenn Alexander. I currently perform in several local groups, and write music that has been placed in commercials, shows, and videos.
I have been teaching and mentoring for over a decade, and I cherish the special bond between vocal coach and singer.
